[09-17-07 – Satellite Today]  DigitalGlobe‘s WorldView-1 imagery satellite is scheduled to be placed into the orbit Sept. 18 by a Boeing Delta 2 rocket.

WorldView-1 was manufactured by Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. and was funded in part by the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)’s NextView program. The NextView program is designed to ensure that the NGA has access to commercial imagery. The majority of the imagery captured by WorldView-1 also will be available for sale through DigitalGlobe’s archive, the company said.
The launch window opens at 2:35 p.m. EDT and closes at 2:49 p.m. EDT.
