Lockheed Gains U.K. Contracts For Guided Multiple Rocket System

      The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence gave a Lockheed Martin Corp. [LMT] unit an award of GBP250 million (US$125 million) in three contracts for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS), Lockheed announced.

      Lockheed will supply GMLR rockets, upgrade kits, spares and support, including12 MLRS M270B1 launcher upgrades and Guided Unitary rockets.

      The system provides precision strike capability to beyond 60 kilometers (37.28 miles). The first new launchers have been delivered, with training and testing of the new system and rockets underway in the U.K. and U.S., respectively, according to Lockheed.
