Qinetiq has signed a deal with Sciemus, a U.K.-based space insurance company aiming to increase its standing after a promising start in 2006. The deal will see Qinetiq provide a new round of technical advice on spacecraft reliability and risk analysis. The deal covers the operation, licensing, maintenance and continued development of Qinetiq’s Space Risk Assessment Tool (SpaceRAT).

Sciemus saw some significant success last year. In January 2006, Sciemus in partnership with Liberty Syndicates launched a new $225 million consortium called Libsat to provide satellite insurance. Inmarsat was the first client for the new venture.
