Verso Technologies Inc. announced Oct. 26 a formal partnership with ViaSat Inc. to jointly develop and market global satellite-based Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networking solutions.

The companies will combine the ViaSat Linkstar broadband VSAT system with Verso’s Netperformer GSM and VoIP switching products.

The partners were recently awarded a multi-million dollar project in Ecuador for which ViaSat will provide both voice and IP broadband connectivity over satellite to the Ecuadorian government.
