Vernon Irvin will serve as chief marketing officer for XM Satellite Radio, the company announced Oct. 23. His appointment will take effect Nov. 14, and Irvin will oversee XM’s strategic marketing efforts including media and brand marketing; retail, direct and partnership marketing; and marketing operations from service offerings and pricing to retention and market research.

Irvin joins XM from Verisign, where he has served since 2003 as executive vice president and general manager for the company’s communications services group.
