Lockheed Martin Corp. shares of International Launch Services Inc. (ILS) have been transferred to Space Transport Inc., ILS announced Oct. 11.

The ILS board appointed Frank McKenna as the company’s president. McKenna, who served as ILS’ vice president and deputy for the past two years, replaces Mark Albrecht, who will remain with Lockheed Martin and retire at the end of the year.

In its new form, ILS will continue to provide launches of Russia’s Proton vehicle to commercial customers. Lockheed Martin will market commercial launches of its Atlas-5 vehicle.

Space Transport was formed specifically for the transaction, which was announced in September, by Mario Lemme, who has been a consultant to ILS since its inception, and a board member for more than three years.
