Italian cable operator Fastweb and Sky Italia have formed a partnership to combine their services into a single offering for the Italian pay-TV market.
Under the terms of the agreement announced Oct. 9, Sky Italia will offer subscribers Internet and telephony packages from Fastweb, while Fastweb will offer the entire Sky Italia channel range on its IPTV platform.
Prior to this agreement, Fastweb had distributed only Sky Italia’s premium packages. For Sky Italia, the deal allows the company to offer its full range of channels to customers in apartment blocks unable to receive content via direct-to-home satellite.
The combined offered is expected to be launched before the end of March.
