Sea Launch‘s Odyssey platform and Commander have departed the company’s home port to prepare for the launch of the Koreasat 5 communications satellite, Sea Launch announced. The mission, which will take place from Sea Launch’s floating platform at the equator, is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 11:27 p.m. EDT.

Koreasat 5, built by Alcatel Alenia Space, will carry 36 transponders in multi-band frequencies. The spacecraft is owned by the Agency for Defense Development of Korea and KT Corp.
