Eumetsat, the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, plans to launch the MetOp-A satellite Oct. 7, the organization announced.
The launch of the spacecraft aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket was postponed three times in July due to technical issues.
MetOp-A is intended to provide global data that improves forecasts of severe weather and disaster mitigation and will also contribute to monitor the climate and the environment.
