An Indian Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) carrying the Insat-4C satellite failed shortly after liftoff, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced July 10.

The vehicle veered off course shortly after launch from Satish Dhawan Space Centre and was destroyed. ISRO is studying launch data to determine the specific reason for the failure.

Insat-4C, carrying 12 Ku-band transponders, was intended to provide TV broadcasting services in South East Asia.
