Mobile Satellite Ventures LP (MSV) received its 12th patent related to its planned ancillary terrestrial (ATC) service that uses a combination of satellite and terrestrial links to provide communications services, the company announced.

Patent No. 7,062,267, “Methods and Systems for Modifying Satellite Antenna Cell Patterns in Response to Terrestrial Reuse of Satellite Frequencies,” covers a system and method for reducing interference between the two parts of the hybrid network, increasing the capacity for segments, MSV said.

MSV has about 90 other patents pending in the United States and also has filed patent applications in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Australia and other countries around the globe.
