Hughes Network Systems LLC introduced the HX System, a new broadband satellite platform, Hughes announced June 20. The system is intended to offer a cost-effective solution for smaller networks that will use advanced bandwidth management techniques.

The system will support uplink speeds of up to 3.2 megabits per second, which will allow operators to provide bandwidth intensive applications such as cellular backhaul and video conferencing, Hughes said.
