XM Canada reached the 80,000-subscriber mark at the end of its fiscal year third quarter and added Toyota and Lexus as an automobile distribution partnership, Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. announced June 5.

XM Canada signed a multiyear distribution agreement with Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) to supply satellite radio service to select Toyota and Lexus vehicles equipped with XM- compatible receivers beginning Aug. 4. XM will offer free activation, along with a three-month subscription that will be matched by TCI, for a full trial period of six months.

TCI, which sold more than 175,000 vehicles in Canada in 2005, is the country’s fourth largest auto sales company and joins GM, Honda, Nissan and Subaru as partners of XM Canada.

XM Canada and Aeroplan, the loyalty marketing arm of ACE Aviation Holdings, the parent company of Air Canada, also signed a partnership to promote satellite radio service packages to Aeroplan’s more than 5 million members.
