Globecast will deliver high-definition (HD) TV World Cup coverage for Sky Italia. Globecast will provide HDTV coverage from its International Broadcasting Centre in Munich, Germany, to Sky’s headquarters outside of Milan, Italy.

The broadcasting solution includes both fiber and satellite connections. Globecast also will provide encoding and decoding equipment as well as HD satellite coverage as a backup for the event using capacity on Eutelsat‘s Eurobird 3 satellite at 33º East.
