GMPCS Personal Communications, a subsidiary of Telenor Satellite Services, announced April 10 that it has begun supplying the Hughes 9201 broadband satellite IP terminals to customers.

Inmarsat hasgiven the terminal Class-1 status, meaning it is capable of delivering data at speeds up to 492 kilobits per second. The terminal will work over the Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) satellite network, supporting as many as 11 users simultaneously, as well as providing the ability to send and receive IP packet and circuit- switched data. The terminal also supports simultaneous voice calling.
