Sea Launch‘s Odyssey launch platform and the Sea Launch Commander departed the company’s port in Long Beach, Calif., in advance of the scheduled launch of the JCSAT-9 communications satellite for JSAT Corp.

The launch is schedule to take place April 11 from Sea Launch’s launch site in the Pacific Ocean south of Hawaii.

JCSAT-9, built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, is based on an A2100AX platform and will carry C-band, Ku-band and S-band transponders.
