Raytheon Co. has achieved in-orbit acquisition and data transfer via the U.S. Milstar satellite constellation with the company’s Secure Mobile Anti-jam Reliable Tactical-Terminal, Advanced Extremely High Frequency, Raytheon announced.

This milestone demonstrates backward compatibility of the terminal with the U.S. Department of Defense legacy Milstar Army, Navy and Air Force terminals using the critical new security technology. The tests were conducted between a terminal at Raytheon’s Satellite Communications Integration and Test Site facility in Marlborough, Mass., and an Army legacy terminal at Ft. Monmouth, N.J.
