Chellomedia appointed Jeroen Oerlemans, general manager of the digital TV channel Sport1 in the Netherlands, which was launched earlier this month. Sport1 is a new, 24-hour sports channel in the Netherlands, with a wide range of live sports. The channel is available both on cable and satellite. Oerlemans will be responsible for the operational, commercial and strategic activities of this sports channel. His duties also include programming, TV formats and content acquisition.

The channel is particularly innovative in terms of soccer coverage. On soccer days the channel can be extended to a maximum of eight channels, enabling viewers to decide for themselves what matches to follow. Sport1 televises the major European (English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Scottish and French) soccer leagues, as well as the UEFA Champions League, the English FA Cup and the Copa Libertadores (the South-American equivalent of the European champions league).
