U.K. satellite pay-TV operator, BSkyB ended 2006 with slightly less than 8.1 million subscribers, with net subscriber growth of 215,000 in the fourth quarter, the company announced.
BSkyB has also seen strong growth for its personal video recorder offering Sky+. At the end of December, the operator had close to 1.3 million households taking its Sky+ service, an increase of more than 250,000 in the quarter. At the end of 2004, the operator had less than 650,000 Sky+ households.
“In the last quarter, more customers joined Sky than at any time in the last three years and we’ve seen record growth in Sky+ and Multiroom households,” James Murdoch, CEO of BSkyB, said in a statement.
