Sea Launch‘s Odyssey Launch Platform and Sea Launch Commander departed the company’s home port in Long Beach, Calif., for Sea Launch’s first mission of the year.

Sea Launch is scheduled to loft the Echostar 10 broadcast satellite into orbit Feb. 8 using its Zenit 3SL rocket.

Built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, Echostar 10 is a next-generation spacecraft intended to expand Echostar Communication Corp.‘s direct-to- home TV services and channel offerings throughout the United States. The spacecraft will be located at 110 degrees West.
