Spacedev introduced Dec. 12 its new Mission Xcelerator Solution Program, a service offering that includes the building and launch of microsatellites and nanosatellites for less than $20 million.

The package includes the Modular Microsatellite Bus (MMB-100), a launch aboard a Falcon 1 rocket from Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), payload integration and launch management services, and a year of mission support services. The program calls for a launch date 20 months after the satellite is ordered, Spacedev founding chairman and CEO Jim Benson said in a statement.

Spacedev recently signed a contract with SpaceX for a Falcon 1 rocket, which Spacedev intends to launch in May 2008. The Falcon 1 “an important component of our initial Mission Xcelerator Solution Program,” Spacedev said.

The maiden voyage of the Falcon 1 is scheduled for Dec. 19.
