The Russian Satellite Communica-tions Co. (RSCC) and Indonesian national telecommunications operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk agreed to study the possibility of jointly developing a telecommunications satellite as well as a ground station to provide service to Russia, Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region.

The spacecraft will help satisfy growing customer demands in digital television services, Internet access and other interactive applications in Russia and the Asia-Pacific region, the companies said.

“The international cooperation allows us to more efficiently develop national telecommunications networks providing an equal availability of up-to-date satellite communications services to the population,” RSCC Acting Director General Yuri Izmailov said in a statement.
