Germany’s MT Aerospace, a subsidiary of OHB Technology AG, received a contract from the French space agency, CNES, to help build the Soyuz ground facilities in Kourou, French Guiana, OHB announced.

The 9.5 million euro ($11.4 million) deal calls for MT to provide the steel structures, large mechanical doors and cranes for the spacecraft integration building and adjoining structures.

CNES announced Dec. 12 that construction of the Soyuz ground facilities in Kourou is expected to be completed in July 2008. The first launch is planned before the end of 2008.
