Globalstar LLC announced Dec. 15 that independent gateway operator Globalstar Australia Pty Ltd. plans to offer simplex, or one-way, data services to customers throughout Australia and New Zealand following an upgrade of its satellite gateway.

The simplex data offering is a low-cost, one-way satellite data service that allows customers to use Globalstar simplex modems and integrated management solutions to track mobile assets using GPS or other location-based applications.
