RIA Novosti reported Dec. 9 that a Soyuz rocket that will carry the first Galileo test satellite is scheduled to be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome Kazakhstan Dec. 26. The launch of the second test satellite is expected to occur in April 2006.
Separately, Interfax reported preparations are underway for the launch of three satellites for the Global Navigation Satellite System (Glonass) on a Proton-K rocket from Baikonur Dec. 25.
