Echostar Communications Corp. announced Nov. 16 that the town of Clark, Texas, will rename itself Dish. Echostar, provider of the Dish Network direct-to-home satellite television service, launched a campaign in August seeking a town to rename itself Dish in exchange for offering all residents free satellite television equipment and programming for 10 years.

Clark, located about 25 miles north of Ft. Worth, has a population of 125 and is described in an Echostar release as a rural agricultural and ranching community as well as a bedroom community for commuters who work in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

The town legally changed its name to Dish Nov. 16.
