Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) announced Oct. 3 it received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office relevant to future multi-spotbeam satellite systems, particularly broadband multi-spotbeam satellite systems supporting an ancillary terrestrial component (ATC). MSV plans to use ATC technology, a terrestrial wireless network, to augment its future Mobile Satellite Service systems.
MSV has received seven omnibus ATC patents since 2004, bringing the company’s total patents to more than 800.
