SES Astra and Dutch service provider Canaldigital announced an agreement for the provision of broadband Internet services via the Astra satellite system. Canaldigital, which has than 600,000 homes subscribers to its DTH services, will offer satellite Internet service to those households.

For the initial rollout, customers will receive downloads via satellite and either a wireless or landline connection for the return channel. Download speeds will be available at 256, 512 or 768 kilobits per second. Pricing for the new service will be announced soon.
