Following its ratification of the European Space Agency (ESA) Convention, Luxembourg became ESA’s 17th Member State, effective June 30.
Cooperation between ESA and Luxembourg began with the signing of a dedicated agreement in September 2000, which enabled Luxembourg to participate in the Agency’s Artes (Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems) program.
A May 2004 agreement gave Luxembourg access to the ESA Convention, allowing participation of observers at the meetings of the Council and other delegate bodies and increased coordination on industrial policy matters.
