EMS Satellite Networks, a division of EMS Technologies Inc., announced July 20 it delivered and installed a DVB-RCS redundant hub to Hellas Sat Consortium Ltd.‘s Athens teleport. The hub will help Hellas Sat expand its broadband connectivity services.

“There is a great demand in Greece, the Balkans and the Middle East for broadband connectivity, driven by the prevalence of small islands and other remote areas in these regions,” Christodoulos Protopapas, CEO of Hellas Sat, said in a statement. “We plan to use the hub to provide high-speed video, audio and Internet connectivity to schools, governments, businesses and hospitals in rural areas.”

Financial terms of the hub’s purchase and installation were not disclosed.
