Arianespace Delays Launch Of Ipstar
Arianespace announced July 6 that workers discovered an anomaly with the ground equipment used to prepare the Ariane 5 launcher, resulting in an additional delay of the launch of Shin Satellite‘s Ipstar spacecraft as Arianespace performs additional checks on the equipment.
Arianespace said the additional tests should take “a few days” and will lead to an equivalent delay in the launch, initially re-scheduled for July 11 from its original launch date of July 8.
The company said a new launch date “will be announced shortly.”
The Ipstar satellite will offer 40 gigabits per second of total capacity for broadband services over Asia. According to Shin’s Web site, the per-megabit pricing is expected to be less than one-third that of current broadband satellite offerings.
