Sirius To Add Chinese. Korean Language Channels
Sirius Satellite Radio and Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Inc. announced June 28 a multiyear agreement to create and launch Asian language channels on Sirius. The first channel launched as part of this agreement will be a Korean language channel, followed by a Chinese language channel.
Multicultural Radio, which owns and operates 44 radio stations in the United States, will bring its expertise in Asian programming to Sirius to create programming that appeals to Asian-American listeners.
The Korean channel, named Radio Korea USA, is expected to launch in the fall and will carry a variety of news, entertainment and music. The Chinese channel, as yet unnamed, will follow. That channel will carry popular music from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as short news and information updates.
