iDirect Technologies launched its Global Edge Connect solution to deliver last-mile wireless connectivity via satellite. Global Edge Connect is a wireless Internet Service Provider solution that will incorporate a carrier-class, scalable, operations support system solution from Pronto Networks.

This Wi-Fi over satellite solution will allow iDirect’s service provider customers to deliver broadband service to rural towns and villages, campus environments, costal regions and other locations where mobile data is important.

“This is a very logical extension of the iDirect product suite,” John Kealey, president and CEO of iDirect, said in a statement. “Service providers utilizing the iDirect solution will be able to easily provision and manage remote networks that deliver broadband connectivity comparable to the quality, price and performance of digital terrestrial circuits such as DSL or cable, without any geographic constraints.”
