Russia’s Federal Space Agency launched a Foton-M 2 satellite laboratory on a Soyuz-U rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome June 1, the Associated Press reported. The satellite, which is on a 17-day mission, will carry out more than 20 experiments on various life forms that were launched on board the satellite. Scientists are looking to use the data to help develop osteoporosis treatments, AP reported. The spacecraft is scheduled to return to Earth June 16.
