Digitalglobe will provide imagery collected by its Quickbird satellite for use in mapping floodplains in Kauai County, Hawaii.

The Digital Ortho Quarter Quad product, which offers two-foot resolution, will allow local, state and federal entities to pursue flood plain mapping projects and disaster mitigation initiatives, Digitalglobe said. The product also includes coastal imagery that will allow for coral reef mapping.

The cost of the imagery is being shared among the county and the state of Hawaii, as well as RMTC/URS, a joint venture of R.M. Towill, URS, Dewberry, Terrapoint, Airborne1 and Sea Engineering, which provides flood hazard engineering and mapping services to U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
