Comtech Telecommunications Corp. May 17 announced that its Tempe, Ariz.-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., won a $1.0 million contract with a global satellite systems provider in Western Africa to support cellular backhaul efforts in the region.

Comtech EF Data will deploy CDM-600 digital satellite modems and CSAT RF transceivers to modernize the current cellular infrastructure. Incorporating the innovative Comtech Monitor and Control Software (CMCS) into the package provides the customer with a scaleable and user-friendly system for monitoring and controlling the equipment. The remote configuration of equipment offered with CMCS allows constant hardware visibility and management of the network.

The Turbo Product Coding in the CDM-600 enables increased coding gain and lower decoding delay and allows significant bandwidth savings.
