Telespazio CEO Giuseppe Veredice believes the operator has a lot to gain from the link-up between Alcatel and Finmeccanica in terms of their space activities. Telespazio was one of two joint ventures formed when Finmeccanica and Alcatel merged their space industry operations Telespazio focuses on the services side of the space industry.

In terms of the benefits to Telespazio on the services side, Veredice commented, “Up to now, Telespazio has been focusing almost solely on the domestic market here in Italy. The goal of the joint venture is to expand our business into new territories. The problem is how we have to approach these markets. Telespazio will benefit from not only having Finmeccanica behind us, but now having the assistance of Alcatel, which is a global player with strong market penetration.”
