Segovia Keeps U.S. Troops In Iraq Connected
Segovia, Inc., a provider of secure global voice, data and video broadband satellite services to the U.S. military, announced that it enabled U.S. troops stationed in Iraq to make more than 100,000 voice over IP (VoIP) telephone calls, totaling more than 1 million minutes, home to the United States during the Mother’s Day weekend of May 7- 8.
The average call home from Iraq lasted just under 12 minutes and cost the solider placing the call about 50 cents. Total volumes, both in number and duration of calls, represented a 50 percent increase in volumes normally experienced by Segovia, the company said.
Segovia currently supports 180 Internet cafes across Iraq providing secure, VoIP telephone service for U.S. troops wishing to stay connected with friends and family.
