Kyodo News reported May 11 that Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs is considering allowing two or more private companies to provide satellite-based digital high-definition broadcasting services in the country. The operators would get access to spectrum being vacated by analog service providers. The agency hopes to pick the new operators by the end of the year, Kyodo News reported.
