Loral Cuts Loss In Second Quarter
Loral Space and Communication Ltd. lost $26.2 million in its 2005 second quarter ended March 31, down from a loss of $79.6 million in the same period in 2004, Loral reported in a May 9 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Revenue improved from $103.7 million in the 2004 second quarter to $132.4 million in the most recent quarter.
Satellite manufacturing contributed $97.8 million in revenue in the 2005 second quarter, up $24 million from a year ago, due to new orders received in the past six months. Satellite services accounted for $34.8 million in revenue in the 2005 third quarter compared to $29.3 million in 2004. Loral attributed the growth to a pair of new satellites in orbit and increased utilization on other spacecraft.
