The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said the National Remote Sensing Agency’s Data Reception Station at Shadnagar, India, received imagery from the recently launched Cartosat-1. The satellite has been undergoing a series of tests since its May 5 launch. The 1,560-kilogram satellite carries two panchromatic cameras capable of providing imagery with a 2.5-meter spatial resolution.

Hamsat, which was launched as a piggyback satellite along with Cartosat-1, also is receiving positive feedback. Feedback e-mails on the performance of the satellite received from amateur radio operators in India, Canada, the United States, Malaysia, Australia, Germany, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain confirm the quality of transmission by Hamsat, both in terms of power and clarity, ISRO said.
