Space Imaging will have the exclusive rights to market data collected by the Cartosat-1 imagery satellite launched May 5 by the Indian Space Research Organization.

Space Imaging’s agreement with Antrix Corp., a division of the Indian space agency, gives the company exclusive rights to market and sell the imagery outside of India. Cartosat-1 carries a pair of black-and-white cameras that collect data with a 2.5-meter resolution.

Space Imaging also holds the marketing rights to India’s Resourcesat-1 and Indian Remote Sensing 1-C and 1-Dsatellites.

“Both Cartosat-1 and Resourcesat-1 show the prominence the Indian commercial program has around the world,” Robert Dalal, CEO of Space Imaging, said in a statement. “Cartosat-1 will soon become a well-known resource in the global Earth-observation market, and Space Imaging and Antrix together will lead its adoption and growth.” Details of the agreement were not released.
