Reuters reported May 2 that Florida Governor Jeb Bush signed a law that calls for convicted child sexual predators to be tracked by satellite.

The Jessica Lunsford Act requires sentences of 25 years to life for those convicted of molesting children younger than 12 years of age. Offenders serving less that a life sentence will be required to wear a GPS-based satellite-tracking device from the time they are released until they die.

The bill was named after a 9-year-old Homosassa, FL, girl who was abducted and murdered in March. A registered sex offender confessed to the crime. Weeks after that, a registered sexual predator was charged in the murder of 13-year-old Sarah Lunde.
