WildBlue To Launch Satellite Internet Service In June
WildBlue Communications Inc. will introduce its satellite Internet service in June, providing high-speed connections to homes and small businesses in the continental United States, the company said.
Initially, the service will be offered through roughly 300 participating National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) telephone and electric organizations that serve primarily rural areas across the country. WildBlue will expand the avenues in which to purchase service to consumer electronics and satellite TV dealers in the coming months. The company said the service should be available nationally by the end of third quarter.
The service will hit the market for $49.95 per month. WildBlue will offer its equipment to customers for $299, with professional installation for $179.95. NRTC members will offer free installation to its customers.
“We are very excited to be approaching the initial launch of this heavily-anticipated service,” WildBlue CEO Tom Moore said in a prepared statement. “Beta testing is going very well and we have worked hard to design a smooth and efficient model to introduce WildBlue to the nation.”
