Telesat said it signed a multi-year distribution contract that names Barrett Xplore Inc., a Canadian national service provider for the satellite broadband service operating on Telesat’s Anik F2 satellite. Subscribers will be able to take advantage of the satellite broadband offering through Barrett’s Xplorenet brand. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

“Our focus is to establish Canada’s first wireless broadband network for consumers…everywhere in Canada,” Bruce Barr, president and CEO of Barrett Xplore said in a prepared statement. “Our new affiliation with Telesat will play a vital role in realizing this exciting goal.”
