In its latest step toward the availability of the Inmarsat 4F-1 satellite, the AstroMesh reflector onboard the recently launched spacecraft successfully deployed. According to Northrop Grumman Corp., the manufacturer of the reflector, the nine-meter diameter AstroMesh reflector provides a key part of the antenna system used by the spacecraft to provide broadband Internet communications. Inmarsat 4F-1 is the first of three satellites that will be used as part of Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network service.
