Sandvine Inc. said Hughes Network Systems Inc. selected the Sandvine Attack Mitigation solution for operation on its Direcway broadband satellite network. The HNS Direcway service will deploy Sandvine’s multi-layer worm/denial of service and zombie PC solution to build self-defending capability into its network. The solution also will be used to identify infected subscribers and contact them via e-mail with recommendations on how best to disinfect their PCs.

“Sandvine’s approach allows us to mitigate attack traffic from a central point in the network to protect the broadband experience for our subscribers,” Dave Zatloukal, vice president of North American Network Services at HNS, said in a prepared statement.
