The Korea Times reported on its Web site Feb. 24 that South Korea is looking to play a role in the European Union’s Galileo satellite navigation program. The report cited Ministry of Science and Technology sources as saying they will present in March a proposal to the EU about its participation in Galileo and hopes to have a deal in place this year. The report quoted officials as saying they want to get involved in Galileo to ensure they have a back-up in case there is an interruption of the U.S. GPS signal.
