Iridium Reports Revenue, Subscriber Increases For 2004
Iridium Satellite LLC said its subscriber number grew to more than 114,000 in 2004, a 22.5 percent increase above its total number of subscribers at the end of 2003. Company officials also said its full year revenues grew by 23.2 percent compared to the same period last year, but the company did not disclose specific financial details.
However, Iridium Chairman and CEO Carmen Lloyd revealed, in a prepared statement, that Iridium “ended 2004 with a positive EBIDTA (earnings before income taxes depreciation and amortization) versus a negative EBIDTA in 2003, a positive change of more than $20 million.” The company also noted that 2004 data usage grew 49 percent compared to 2003.
For more detailed information on Iridium’s 2004 results, based on a conversation Lloyd had with sister publication Satellite News following our deadline, as well as the company’s outlook for 2005 and beyond, please see the Feb. 28 issue of Satellite News.
