The launch of the XM-3 satellite for XM Satellite Radio by Sea Launch was postponed indefinitely “due to continuing sea conditions at the launch site” at the company’s equatorial launch site located at 154 degrees West, the launch services provider said on its Web site. The launch was originally scheduled for Feb. 16, but that launch was delayed for 24 hours. It is now postponed indefinitely.

The water conditions have not had any adverse effect on the Boeing Satellite Systems-built satellite or the Zenit-3SL launcher. “The satellite and the launch vehicle are healthy and ready to launch,” the company said.

XM-3, the tenth Boeing 702 satellite built by the company, will reside at 85 degrees West and will be used to transmit more than 130 channels of music, sports, news and entertainment to XM subscribers across the continental United States.
